More Drawing!

So for my awful wonderful drawing class I had to draw someone from observation again... and someone from a tiny little blurry newspaper picture.

I decided to draw my daddy.

And it actually looks really good! I am very proud of it.

But then I had to add the part with the random person.. so I like it a bit less. I think I will have to ask my dad to pose again.. or paint white over the other girl. I didn't like it as much... cuz it was just a random person! I feel better when there is a bit more meaning.
I suppose I'm meant to be learning the technical stuff.

PHOTO CLASS

I'm scanning bras. Not only that..
I'm going around and requesting to borrow bras so I may scan them.

For my photography class our assignment was to SCAN a COLLECTION of things and begin a dialogue about gender and femininity. - Also to display our scanned collection in a creative way.

So what I have come up with is to display a film reel with photos as the film (4x6s taped together) and the collection that I would scan would be bras of some of the ladies I work with at SilverCity.

"All I need is your favourite, or prettiest bra so I can scan it for my project."

We'll see what happens!

More on SilverCity...

Let's be honest here.. I've created a blog about my art.. and the first image I put up there for the top part was a photo of the Booth. Don't get me wrong, it's fantastic--I love all of my movie-theatre-themed stuff..
I just wish I didn't have to work as much as I do.

So some more stuff..I had some photos

I think I'll post those later when I have a bit more time to organize it all.

I'll put up some old ones... Like this one. Just looking at a film reel on Adam's Make-Up table.
I like the perspective, I should try this one again.. maybe focus a little higher up on the film. I could try it in digital though, this one was done in the darkroom.

This one here.. I keep trying to figure out what movie it was for. I can see a guy sitting on something..

I quite like the repetition in the frames. It was hard to take though because I had to be just underneath it. But I like it.

It would've been a trailer or commercial is my guess. Though I suppose it could be part of the reels.

This one to the left is when I took 35mm film to the enlarger and got some negative Meercats! (From the Telus commercial)
Pretty cute! I should've maybe worked on it so it wouldn't look like a negative? But It was still a neat experiment.

That's it for today.. maybe some more stuff later. I really want to work on some Alice in Wonderland themed drawings.

My Part-Time job is turning into my Full-Time life...

************
It really is...
But at least I've found plenty of inspiration through it.

Fall's painting class (and photo class) was graced with SilverCity-themed art.

These two are my favourite... EVER. I want to make more like them.. I sold them to Gaetan (IMAX Manager) and I'm very pleased they found a good home.

I do wish I worked less so I'd have more time for painting.. I just want to paint!
Gimme gimme more projectors..

Drawing Class one.

So we were told to...

#1: IMAGINE a head. Draw a head from your head.

#2. Draw a head from observation...

#3. Draw from tiny little picture that's super blurry from newspaper...

---------------

I didn't particularly enjoy the experience. I don't think I particularly like this class.

New Blog

Dear World,

I would like to show off some of my art. And I also want to just put up nonsense artsy things too.
What do you think World?

I think I'll do it.
